Saturday 3rd December 2011: Brixham Carnival Procession 4.30pm

Sunday 4th December 2011: Plymouth Barbican. 10am - 3pm. Hug A Husky.

Sunday 11th December 2011: Montecute House, Somerset. 11am - 4pm. Christmas Fayre, Hug A Husky and Demonstrations.

Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th December 2011: Guildhall Shopping Centre, Exeter. 10am - 3pm. Hug A Husky.

Sunday 25th March 2012: Montecute House, Somerset. 11am - 4pm. Hug A Husky and Demonstrations.

Sad Loss of Sheba

Although Sheba wasn't a husky or sled dog, she was our oldest member of our pack who sadly past away this month at the grand old age of 12 (just short of 13). She will be sadly missed in our family.

New Members - Puppies

We are proud to announce that Honehe Huskies have had a litter of 7 puppies on Christmas Day 2010. 1 Girl and 6 Boys, a mix of red/white and black/white - so more puppies to join us on the hug-a-huskies in the future :D

Merry Christmas to you all & Thank You.

What a wonderful start to Westcountry Sled Dogs new educational and fundraising site! Since September we have raised just over £770 for our three designated charities through Hug-A-Husky and educational demonstrations with our dogs.

Our dogs have not ceased to amaze us, they are so well behaved and friendly, and no situation so far has caused them any distress - they are so well behaved - amazing considering they are Siberian Huskies ... LOL!

The only down side is that we have not been able to access the snow with the dogs as the roads are too icey!!! Ideal conditions for the dogs, just not for wheels!!! Such a shame.

Have a Merry Christmas and watch out for our events pages, I'll be doing some updates and adding some more photographs for our events.

Woo hoo - Winter is a coming.

Westcountry Sled Dogs just love this time of year and we have been eagerly anticipating it all summer. I will be sending out a schedule soon for people to join us when they can - so here we go ... hike on!

We also have quite a few events that we are attending to raise money for charity. Take a look at the events pages to find out where we are across Devon ..... and Somerset!!! Come and help us raise money for one of our 3 designated charities.

New & Updated Westcountry Sled Dogs

We have been busily updating our website in order to move forward with the times. We estabilished the group in 2006 as a friendship group trying to learn about sled dogs, activities and make new friends in the world of sled dogs. We have been really pleased with how the group has moved from strength to strength, but times are changing and it time to change with it.

We are still here to help newbies to discover sled dogs, seek advice, make friends, join a social group and learn about sled dog activities. Now Rod and I would like to develop the group further to provide more services. Both Rod and I work in education and would like to use our passion for Siberian Huskies and Sled dogs to inform others what activities are available to them whilst raising money for one of our three charities:

Pets As Therapy - one of our dogs is a PAT dog
Animals in Distress
Rowcroft Hospice

Good morning all and welcome to Spring.

For us that means much earlier mornings to run the dogs and a few evening runs too. We hope to keep going as long as we can, as I think it is going to be warm/hot summer this year!

Club News

We have decided to make WCSD's an official group. There have been many reasons for this and we hope it will help everyone to still enjoy the fun. Information will be going out soon to those on the mailing list.

Reminder to all Mushers

We would just like to remind all mushers that in order to use Forestry Commissioned land, you need a fully paid up permit and you must wear your bibs.

This does not stop us having visitors to come and watch and socialise, or joining us at Countryman's Choice for a trial run.

Well we have been busily training as much as we can and we would like to welcome our newest members :D

The group is going from strength to strength at the moment and we really hope people are enjoying themselves.

Members have been attending rallies and doing extremely well, unless you are Rod ... LOL!!! He decided to take a tumble and take in the view too :tongue:

Rallies are still going on across England. Rod and I will be at the Wyedean Quest for a bit of fun - then we need to get the dogs ready for CRUFTS!!!

Living Coasts

We have been at Living Coasts, Torquay, today to domonstrate and talk to people about our lovely dogs. We met many interesting people today and hope to meet a few more tomorrow. We will be there from 11am till about 3pm.

Children in Need

Hi all

We raised £264.14p for Children in Need on the 14th November, despite the howling gales and torential rain. Well done everybody, and thank you for all your help.

We are thinking of doing another dog show next year - but during the "Indian Summer" time when we will hopefully avoid all this wintery bad weather :)
